Tom Eckstein, MBA, Principal
Tom has decades of experience analyzing market, health, and data sets as well as making complex concepts simple and understandable. He has a variety of experiences that lends to his ability to connect disciplines and create conceptual models of data, business, and operations leading to insight and understanding.
Sarah Milder, MPH, Principal
Sarah manages quantitative research projects, consults on public health and health indices development projects, and provides data analysis and interpretation. She has nearly a decade of experience conducting infectious disease surveillance, analyzing public health data, managing projects, and writing and developing reports. Prior to joining Arundel Metrics, Sarah worked as an infectious disease epidemiologist at the Minnesota Department of Health, and had a previous career in criminal justice. When not at work, she enjoys the outdoors, live music, tasty food, and spending time with her husband, two kids and dog.
Kristin Shaw, MPH, Principal
Kristin is an epidemiologist with nearly a decade of experience working in public health. In her current role, she plans and conducts data analysis projects, and interprets data for media messaging to the public and to key stakeholders through press releases, website content, and presentations. Prior to joining Arundel Metrics, Kristin worked in infectious disease epidemiology at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), where she gained expertise in infection prevention and antibiotic resistance. She began her career at MDH in 2010 as a CDC/CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellow, a two-year program in which she gained valuable surveillance and infection control experience in healthcare-associated infections. She received an MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota and a BA in Biology from Macalester College. Outside of work, Kristin enjoys hiking, swimming, traveling, yoga, and spending time with her husband and two young daughters.
Laura Houghtaling, MPH Senior Epidemiologist
Laura is an epidemiologist with six years of experience in clinical and epidemiological research, four years of combined professional and academic experience in data analysis, and ten years of experience collaborating on diverse teams in various sectors of healthcare and wellness. In her current role, she manages large scale data management and analysis projects, and interprets data for media messaging to the public and to key stakeholders. Prior to joining Arundel Metrics, she worked in infectious disease epidemiology at the Minnesota Department of Health. She received her MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health and a BA in German Language and Literature from Colgate University. Outside of work, she enjoys biking, yoga, breweries, travel, and spending time with her wife and two dogs.
Mary Ann Honors, PhD, MPH Epidemiologist
Mary Ann is an Epidemiologist and enjoys using data visualization to help stakeholders better engage with public health data. She plans and conducts data analysis projects, and communicates the results to the public and key stakeholders through press releases, website content and presentations. Prior to joining Arundel Metrics, she was a Research Fellow at the University of Minnesota, focusing on health eating promotion and obesity prevention. She received a PHD in Behavioral Neuroscience from Purdue University, and an MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota. When not at work, Mary Ann enjoys spending time with her husband and son, and knitting hats to keep her friends and family warm during the cold Minnesota winters.
Elise Parks, MPH Epidemiologist
Elise entered the field of public health after working for community non-profits for several years. Drawn to the study of population health as a means to address the recurring disparities and systemic challenges she observed through her work, she studied Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology at the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health. She enjoys using data analysis and programming skills to explore health and well-being for the America’s Health Ranking reports. While not at work, Elise enjoys spending time with her dog Penny and exploring the great outdoors.
Alexia Málaga, MPH Epidemiologist
Alexia is an epidemiologist who is passionate about chronic disease prevention and health equity. Her commitment to public health is reflected in her professional experiences and academic training in epidemiological methods, data analysis and interpretation, grant and report writing, and working with culturally diverse populations. As an alumna of Macalester College and the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, Alexia has made Minnesota her home where some of her favorite hobbies include backpacking and biking.
